Artificial intelligence – why some workers don’t want to use it
Artificial intelligence (AI) and automation are already having a significant impact on a variety of industries and workplaces. They are streamlining operations, reducing human error, and allowing businesses to scale more effectively.
“The way humans interact and collaborate with Artificial Intelligence is taking a dramatic leap forward with agent AI… With their super-powerful reasoning and execution capabilities, agent AI systems promise to transform many aspects of human-machine collaboration…” – Harvard Business Review
However, some workers are reluctant to use AI or its latest version. That’s according to a survey conducted by YouGov for Pegasystems (NASDAQ: PEGA), a software development, marketing and licensing company. Here are the key findings:
- More than half of respondents (58%) are already using AI agents for a variety of tasks.
- 33% of respondents are concerned about the quality of work being done by AI.
- 32% claim a lack of human intuition and emotional intelligence
- 30% don’t trust the accuracy of the answers they get from AI
- 47% believe AI lacks human intuition and emotional intelligence
- 40% feel uncomfortable presenting work generated by AI
- 34% worry that AI-generated work is not as good as their own, which is linked to concerns about the accuracy and reliability of the technology
There are other risks for companies that rely on AI, including creating more work and stress for employees and overconfidence in how ready their organizations are to adopt the technology. Faced with these challenges, companies need to take note of these concerns and take steps to reduce fears and uncertainty among employees. For example, training can be provided on the use of AI to make sure workers understand how to use it effectively.
