74 million BGN are allocated for qualification and new skills of employees
The Human Resources Development Programme continues in 2025. 74 million BGN will be allocated for the newly opened procedure “New Skills” for qualification, retraining and acquisition of new skills of employees. This was announced at the award ceremony “Employer of the Year 2024”, organized for the 21st year by the Employment Agency. Companies from all over the country were honoured for social and economic achievements.
Since the programme began in 2021, almost 100,000 employed and unemployed people have expressed their willingness to join the courses. They are funded under the National Recovery and Sustainability Plan. Around 33 thousand of those enrolled have already been issued with a certificate.
“Since the beginning of the year, the Employment Agency has activated over 46 thousand inactive persons. The result has been achieved by the joint actions of Roma and youth mediators, activation specialists and labour mediators from the labour offices,” said Deputy Minister Lazar Lazarov. He stressed that true integration of people with disabilities and their economic independence can only be achieved by working together.
Deputy Minister Rumiana Petkova said that the Employment Agency provides employment opportunities for vulnerable groups on the labour market so that they can be a full part of society. This will allow for a faster transition from unemployment to employment and ensure better realisation of the workforce.
Applying in 2025
Employers can now submit training projects for their employees. The deadline for applications is 5 March 2025. Digital skills training will be free with an e-voucher from the Employment Agency. Courses will be tailored to the individual needs of workers and the specific needs of their employers.
